The ten year experiment has two parts, but I am adding a third component; I will let you know which one is mine!! Adults can do this too, I tried it for fun and it was just that, fun!!

Go up and tell someone:

  • If it makes you more comfortable, tell them it is a ten year experiment
    • Invite them to do it too
  • Stranger Preferably
    • Will help build confidence and face your fears
  • Family Member
  • Friend
  • ***OR*** just write it down

FIRST PART

Introduce yourself as you were 10 years ago – exactly how you remember:

  • What is the date 10 years ago?
  • What is your name?
  • How old are you?
  • What city and state do you live in?
  • Who do you live with?
  • What are your favorite things to do?
  • How do you feel?

EXAMPLE: Hi, it is April 3 2004. My name is Lucas and I am 97 years young. I live in glorious Milwaukee, WI in my parents house. I like to fly airplanes, leaving school, going to hockey games, partying, doing my best to avoid authority figures and not thinking about college.  I feel like I am invincible and nothing can stop me. I truly believe that I will be perfectly fine living the life I am living with no consequences, responsibility or a care in the world.

SECOND PART – I added this one!

Introduce yourself as you are today (Elevator Speech):

  • What is the date?
  • What is your name?
  • How old are you?
  • What city and state do you live in?
  • Who do you live with?
  • What are your favorite things to do?
  • How do you feel?

EXAMPLE: Hi, it is April 3, 2014. My name is Lucas and I am 27 years young. I currently reside in freezing Milwaukee, WI living with my roommate who has been a good friend for the last 8-9 years. I really enjoy reading, writing, speaking, teaching, life coaching, doing NLP, learning, going to training’s and seminars and being a homebody. I feel like I am unsuccessful even though everyone around me tells me how successful I am, pisses me off! I feel like I wasted too many years of my life pursuing other peoples dreams and now I get to play catch up.  I am too focused for my own good. I am tired, sometimes I will sit in front of my computer and work for 30-40 hours at a time with no sleep or breaks. I do not feel healthy!

THIRD PART

Introduce yourself as the person you want to be in 10 years.

REMEMBER – This is how you would like to be in ten years!

  • What is the date?
  • What is your name?
  • How old are you?
  • What city and state do you live in?
  • Who do you live with?
  • What are your favorite things to do?
  • How do you feel?

EXAMPLE: Hi, my name is Lucas and it is April 3, 2024 and I am 37 years young.  I have numerous houses throughout the country I call home depending upon the season.  During the summer months my wife and reside in a condo in downtown Milwaukee, WI. During the fall to early winter we go to downtown San Diego, CA because the weather and scenery beats the hell out of the Midwest.  After new years we go to Phoenix, AZ because we created a core group of friends there. I really enjoy traveling the world, volunteering my time, writing books, speaking and creating inspirational at-home training’s. I feel so successful and look forward to my 40’s and 50’s because it is statically proven that is the age range of the greatest success!

That is the ten year experiment!

If you really put your thoughts and feelings into this, you just experienced the closest thing we have to time travel.

When you went back in time:

  • What memories surfaced?
  • Were you in a good spot or a bad spot?

When you went forward in time:

  • What did you see 10 years from now?
  • What do you want to do?
  • Who do you want to become?

The Ten Year Experiment is fun to imagine and dream!!

Where you end up in ten years is completely up to you! You are free to choose and manifest that through free will!

Starting now, you can start choosing to make better decisions based upon who you want to become!

To Sum It Up:

  • You choose whether or not you will be happy

You can not choose the consequences to your choices but you can choose whether or not if your choice is aligned with your future self!  You know what the consequences are to bad decisions, so why make them?

Remember who you want to be from the ten year experiment and make decisions accordingly to become that person. Your choices now will affect your future.

Decision: is Latin meaning “to cut off from”

  • When you say “yes” to one thing, you inevitably say “no” to something else
