What we believe becomes a fact in our own mind and will determine what we will succeed at.
It does not matter if what you believe is actually true or not. The only thing that matters is if you believe it.
Most people say and/or think the words “I can’t…” without thinking anything through. Everyone is much more capable of achievement that we give ourselves credit for.
Whether you believe you can or can’t, you are right” – Henry Ford
If you believe you can’t, you will never achieve anything.
“I can’t” can come in many shapes and forms which will have the same effect upon your self-esteem:
- “I wish I were able to…”
- “If only I were…”
- “I would try, but…”
- “Are you kidding me?”
- “That’s impossible”
These statements disempower you; meaning, you will constantly pass up opportunities to try new things, meet new people, challenge yourself, grow as an individual and build your confidence.
Write down all the limiting beliefs that you have of yourself. All the things that you think you can’t do, things that other people can accomplish but you can’t.
Looking at this list is probably real depressing. But…you have the power right now to change your thinking and empower yourself to accomplish everything that you believe you can not accomplish.
To the right of your list, write down the complete opposite of your negative limiting belief.
For example: If you wrote that you can’t get an “A” in algebra, write down on the right side of it, I am smart and put forth effort to get good grades.
When you write down the positive side of your limiting belief you:
- Will stop wasting your life believing you can’t
- See that you can do these things
- Raise your self-esteem
- Start accomplishing small goals which will turn into bigger goals
The idea here is to never underestimate yourself with doubting your capabilities. Any form of success starts with your belief in yourself.
