Negativity is all around us and it is up to our conscious minds to protect our subconscious from everything life throws our way.
Negative people are those who complain about their life and everything that is happening. They blame other people and events for what happens to them in life. They make excuses for their actions when they don’t follow through with what they say. They hold unnecessary grudges against you and others trying to make you feel like you did something wrong.
To sum it up, negative people are small minded thinkers who do not know how to take responsibility for their lives. They want nothing more than for you to give up and quit.
How do you protect yourself from such vicious creatures?
To protect yourself, you first need to understand how your subconscious receives information.
Your conscious mind has numerous natural filters which delete, distort, and generalize reality – turning it into your own false reality that only you perceive as true.
Two million bits of information bombard our five senses every second of every day. Through deleting, distorting, and generalizing all of that information, our conscious minds naturally break it down to a comprehensible 128 bits of information per second.
With all the information that comes our way, we delete a lot of it and process what we want. It is as simple as hitting the delete button on your keyboard leaving no trace that it ever happened.
We see, hear, and feel things that no one else does. What is in the front of your mind is what you will experience. You will always find what you are looking for.
We use our past experiences and perception to make sense of the present. If you were in a bad relationship when someone constantly lied to you, you may generalize what other people say by perceiving everything as a lie.
PROTECTING YOUR SUBCONSCIOUS
There are numerous ways you can protect your subconscious from the negative people in this world. Sometimes it is not easy, but it is irresponsible not to try. You may find one that you like and stick with only that. Or you may like them all and turn them in to habits one at a time. This is your life, your call.
1) AVOID THEM LIKE THE PLAGUE
Simply avoid the negative people and situations you are currently facing. If you have a group of “friends” who are always negative towards you and bring you down, get them out of your life by no longer making the choice to be around them.
Stop watching and reading the news. The media loves nothing more than to tell lies and fill your head with fear. As the saying goes, “if you don’t watch the news you’re uniformed, if you watch the news you’re misinformed.”
Affirmations are short, positive, present tense statements that help you believe what you want to believe. In my book, I AM – Children’s Book for Positive Thinkers, I use the affirmation concept to instill positive thoughts in your mind and your children’s minds.
When I worked side-by-side next to the world’s most negative person, Milena Gavran, she did not know how to formulate a sentence without complaining, blaming, and making excuses for herself and family. She made herself out to be a victim and sucked the life out of everything that came near her. The only reason why I am still alive after being around this thing is through the use of affirmations.
When you can’t avoid life’s worst people, repeat your favorite affirmations over and over again. Visualize the affirmation as reality and put all your thought into. It doesn’t matter if you do not listen to a word that is said, your subconscious is more important than the words of a negative soul.
3) READ SELF-HELP MATERIAL
Some people may not like the term, “self-help” because they don’t need help. If you are one of those people, okay, call it personal development or self-improvement material. Essentially, this is non-fiction psychology material which is all about success and positive thinking.
Not only is reading 30 minutes a day healthy for you, by reading personal development material you are putting positive thoughts into your subconscious. It takes time to turn a negative paradigm into one of an optimist. Napoleon Hill – Think & Grow Rich, Jack Canfield – The Success Principles, and David Schwartz – The Magic of Thinking Big are three great books to get your started.
