Presuppositions of NLP are an effective way to communicate with yourself and others. Implementing these will propel you forward in social aspects and  life.

Do not take this on all at once, try one each day or week and get good at it before you on. As you move forward through this, remember to keep implementing the previous ones as well.  Watch your life transform!

1. Respect for the other person’s model of the world

Everyone has their own perspective on reality. You do not have to believe someone or even agree with them, show respect however.  Everything single person’s perspective on reality is false 100% of the time.  This is because of our past experiences and knowledge which determines how we see the world around us.

2. Behavior and change are to be evaluated in terms of context and ecology

When you go out into the world you are directly and indirectly affecting people’s lives.  Your behavior should create a change that is good for yourself, other people and the community as a whole. Start looking at your behavior and change what is necessary.

3. Resistance in another person is a sign of a lack of rapport

There is no such thing as a resistant person, only stubborn and inflexible communicators. You need to start being an effective communicator to accept and use all the communication that is presented to you.

4. People are not their behaviors

We are all better than the behaviors that we do.  When you meet someone whose behavior does not align with your values, accept the person and change their behavior.

5. Everyone is doing the best they can with the resources they have available

All our behaviors is motivated by a positive intent because our behavior is programmed to adapt. The behaviors that we do and see in others is the best available choice that we have at that time.

6. Calibrate on behavior

The most important information that you can gather from someone is their behavior. The only way you know that you are target with your goals is if your behavior obtained that desired outcome.  If not, change your behavior so that you can achieve what you set out to do.

7. The map is not the territory

The words that we use in our language are NOT the event or items that they represent.  Words have so many different meanings in the English language that they do not actually represent what we say.

8. You are in charge of your mind, and therefore your results

Everything that we do and create starts in the mind. Once you realize that you are in charge of your mind and the thoughts you have, you will then be completely in charge of the results you produce.  E+R=O explains this perfectly!

9. People have all the resources they need to succeed and to achieve their desired outcomes.

There are no unresourceful people, only unresourceful states.  We all have the same opportunity as the next person.  If you need to look something up, there is a public library with books and computers.  Get in the state of mind to take advantage of all the resources at your disposal.

10. All procedures should increase wholeness

When you focus on what is not important in life, you are wasting time and energy instead of achieving your goals.  Release your negative emotions and inner conflicts to live the happiest life you can.

11. There is no failure, only feedback

When you do not succeed at something right away, you receive feedback from the results that you produced and learn from your mistakes. Adjust your behavior and thinking according to the feedback that you receive from the results that you produced

12. The meaning of communication is the response you get

Just like #11, look at the feedback of your communication against the way you communicated that particular instance. Interactions all produce different responses, how are people responding to you?

13. The Law of Requisite Variety

The person or system with the most behavioral flexibility will control the system, you need to be flexible.  Be flexible in all areas of your life, even with your time and especially with your ideas. Flexibility allows things to get done.

14. All procedures should be designed to increase choice

By creating more choices, this allows you to be more creative, flexible and free.  Keep opening up doors and living for opportunity. When you are presented with more choices, you will have more influence. No one wants to work with a needy person, act “As If”
